Yarn Letter Thank You Bag

Don’t throw away those yarn scraps! Save them for fun yarn lettering for your gift bags. It’s an easy and inexpensive project that personalizes gifts. A special Thank You to Expressionery for providing product for this post as part of the Laura Kelly Design Team.

Before Christmas last year, I found out that my daughter’s teacher loves to knit and crochet. When we wrapped her Christmas gift, I made sure to include a bit of yarn in the gift wrapping. Now that it’s almost Teacher Appreciation Week, I’m utilizing a similar technique to embellish a gift bag for her. It’s complete with personalized gift items from the Laura Kelly for Expressionery line, making it an all around great gift!

If you are looking for an easy and inexpensive way to add a handmade touch to your gift wrapping, these yarn letters are quick and simple. Use yarn scraps instead of tossing them in the trash!

Supplies:

  • Gift bag
  • Yarn
  • Craft glue in a tube (be sure to use a kind that dries clear)

This is a great opportunity to show off your lovely cursive or hand lettering skills. Begin by spelling your words out with the glue on the gift bag. Be sure that the bag is lying flat.

Quickly adhere the yarn to the glue. I always like to try to use a single piece of yarn without cutting it, but I did need to cut the yarn in at least a few places for this project. The glue in the word “You” was not quite as sticky as I like by the time I got to that word, so I added a bit more glue. The white glue will show at first, but it will dry clear.

Her hand drawn doodles are so cute! I love this School Books Custom stamp, and I hope her teacher does, too!

The stamps are shipped in a cute bag. If you are gifting a stamp by itself (which is totally an option- these stamps make great stand alone gifts!), then you are all set to gift with the included bag.

I’ve been a fan of the Laura Kelly Me & My Peeps line for years. Did you know that you can choose the Peep that best reflects you or your gift recipient? I let my daughter choose the one for this small notepad that she thought looked most like her teacher.
