- Use the hem of a shirt/dress/etc as the hem of the leggings. This saves time and leaves you with a nice factory finished hem.
- I used a ball point needle rather than a double needle. I needed the leggings done that night, and I really didn’t have time to tackle the double needle thing. I reinforced the leggings by doing a double stitch, but with a single ball point needle. In other words, I sewed the main seam, then sewed duplicate seam just inside of the main seam. This has held up for washings and dance class, so it seems to have worked ok.
- I love projects that are customizable, and this one fits the bill. I wanted tight, ankle length leggings for dance (she has them pulled up a bit in the picture- they are longer than the picture shows), but you can change the fullness of them to fit your child. Make them straight leg, boot cut- whatever you want!
Anyone else conquered these leggings?? I love them!
