What We Did This Weekend: Fried Mozzarella Sticks with a Jalapeno Twist

Eons ago, I had a segment on my blog called “What We Did This Weekend”. Each week, I would try out a recipe, craft, or DIY project from another blogger that I’ve always wanted to try, and then I would write about it here. Sometimes I found a few misses, but for the most part I found many awesome projects that I wouldn’t have tried otherwise.

2014 is the year to bring back What We Did This Weekend. Each week on Monday or Tuesday, I’ll share something great that we did from the past weekend. I’ll only share the best of the best blogger recipes and ideas, and in line with the tone of this blog, I’ll make sure that each one maximizes YOUR time to the fullest.

I’ve always wanted to make Fried Mozzarella. The few times that I’ve bought them in a restaurant, they’ve always been delicious, but a few places just taste like they forgot to warm them in the microwave all the way. Yuck. I never dreamed how easy it would be to make Fried Mozzarella at home. And the best part? I can chose any type of mozzarella that I want from the store! Yippee! (I know, I sound like a kid who was just told that they can have ice cream for dinner).

Fried Jalapeno Mozzarella

For this Fried Mozzarella, I chose the Weight Watcher’s Jalapeno String Cheese. I wonder what Weight Watcher’s would say if they knew that I used their string cheese to make Fried Mozzarella.

My dad and his wife gave me the Pioneer Woman’s cookbook for Christmas, and the Fried Mozzarella recipe is one of the yummy appetizer recipes in there. But she also has it available on her website, so it’s What We Did This Weekend!

Change it up: I used Jalapeno String Cheese for kick. I also used traditional bread crumbs simple because they are what I had in the pantry.

These are by far the best Fried Mozzarella Sticks that I’ve had, and I was amazed at how easy they were to make. I’ll also let you in on another secret- I had never fried anything before this recipe. So I’m feeling super accomplished today. I successfully fried a Weight Watcher’s product.

Fried Mozzarella Recipe

To try your own Fried Mozzarella, see the full recipe over on the Tasty Kitchen website. I’d love to hear if you try it this weekend!

Now I’m off to find another great project for this weekend! Are you a blogger that would like to get featured on What We Did This Weekend? Be sure to link up to the Thursday Project Stash Party- it’s where I find lots of inspiration!

I have not cooked with almond flour! Can you purchase that at a regular grocery store?

This looks so good and my kids love cheese sticks and jalapenos both. Fridays are usually snack night for dinner and this would be perfect.

Ok, I have a serious weakness for fried cheese sticks. These look really yummy! (And I LOVE the irony of using the WW cheese!) 😉

This looks deelish! I love fried mozzarella and this seems way too easy to make at home (meaning I’ll make it way too often…LOL). Thanks for sharing!

Yum! I love jalapenos and hot pepper cheese, but the rest of my family doesn’t. I’ll have to give them a try, thanks for the link and the idea!

You can always use regular string cheese to cut out the “kick”. 🙂
