Happy Summer! Summer solstice passed last week, and I am pretty sure that I didn’t even mention it. For many, summer is a lazy time of no-schedules and vacation. Our schedule becomes even crazier in the summer. Between my husband in summer school, catching up on kids’ doctor’s appointments, church camp, and so much more, we do not vacation much in the summer at this point in our lives.
I’ve been using the summer break to teach the kids a few extra life skills. My daughter learned to change the toilet paper roll, and now she is a toilet paper roll changing fanatic. She has stated that she will change every toilet paper roll in the house this summer in every bathroom. That’s dedication, my friends.
I have created a different goal for the triplets. Last summer, we potty trained which was wonderfully successful. This summer, we are focusing on, um, aim. Three little boys in the house equals a lot of “aiming” issues. So the new rule is aim or clean up your own misses. The boys are not excited about clean up, but they lose focus with the aim part. To help them from getting distracted, I used my handy dandy Cricut machine to make these Potty Training Targets.
Supplies:
- Outdoor vinyl, red
- Cricut cutting machine
- Cricut Standard Grip Cutting Mat
- Transfer Tape
Open up Cricut Design Space. Begin a new project, and click “Images.” Type in “target.” A variety of target images will appear.
Choose your favorite one and insert it in the project. If the target has more than one layer, ungroup it and delete the layers until only one is left (the primary target layer should be the only one).
Cut the vinyl decals with the machine. Apply a piece of transfer tape over the target. Set aside.
To apply the targets to the toilet, first thoroughly clean the toilet. Turn the water valve off to the toilet and then flush the toilet to remove the water. Choose the spot where you would like the target to go and clean it with rubbing alcohol. Let the area dry completely. If the area is not dry, the target will not stick. Once the area is completely dry, apply the target to the desired area using the transfer tape. Make sure that there are no air bubbles under the vinyl by adhering the target firmly and using a credit card edge or your method of choice. Refill the toilet with water. While outdoor vinyl is more durable than removable vinyl, using it in a toilet this way is not permanent. From the toilet elements to cleaning, the target will last but not forever. The main purpose of the target is to get the kids acclimated to aiming. The goal is to have this continue even after the target is removed.
Toilet paper is an important part of being prepared for potty training. Be sure to not run out during the busy summer months of vacations, backyard barbecues, and pool parties by stocking up on Cottonelle Mega Rolls at Walmart.
My daughter will not have to change the roll nearly as much with these Mega Rolls! The Cottonelle Mega Roll is equal to 4 regular rolls (when comparing the Mega Roll to the number of sheets in the Ultra 77 count roll).
Save $1 now on Cottonelle Mega Rolls at Walmart using the Ibotta app. It is one of my favorite apps for saving money while shopping for items that I need. Visit your local Walmart and grab Cottonelle Mega Rolls so you never run out this summer!
