Vacation Packing Tips for Kids’ Clothes

This post is sponsored by OshKosh B’Gosh; however, all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

I plan to share more soon, but last week my family went on an amazing adventure. But this awesome adventure required me to do something that I have not done before– pack suitcases for four kids for an entire week! I’m the primary laundry caretaker in the house, and the thought of not only packing clothes for four kids, but then also doing the laundry for them all on return was a bit overwhelming. I decided that this was MY vacation, too, and I wasn’t going to let the overload of laundry troubles ruin that for me.

Does this scenario sound familiar? If so, here are a few things that I did PRIOR to our trip to make packing the kids’ clothes for vacation a sweet, tropical breeze.

Research your home away from home

The first thing that I did was head to the Internet. I looked up the place where we would be staying for the week, primarily looking for one crucial piece of information.

Did the villa have a washer and dryer?

Now I realize that doing laundry on vacation is no one’s idea of a vacation, but when you have a large family it can be particularly helpful. By planning to do at least a few loads of laundry during the week, I was able to not only pack less clothing for the kids, but I was also able to keep from doing all of the dirty laundry once I had arrived back at home.

If you are staying at a beach house, cabin, or other villa-type location, there is a good chance that you may have a washer and dryer. If you are in a hotel, maybe not. Be sure to either look the location up online or call them in advance to know for sure!

Mix n’ Match

If you are heading out to purchase your kiddos a few new spring outfits, invest in tops and bottoms that will mix n’ match. I adore the OshKosh brand for this. They make the cutest, most trendy clothes that are still comfortable for my daughter but also go together. We typically pick up a few pairs of leggings, a pair of shorts, and a few tops. We purchase those with a similar color scheme so that they can be worn together.

This way, if a shirt encounters a spill, the entire outfit doesn’t need to be changed. We just grab a top that goes with the bottoms, and we are set to continue the vacation fun!

Let kids have a hand

Before leaving, I allowed my daughter to pretty much pack her own suitcase under my supervision. This way, I made sure that she packed clothes that she would actually wear, rather than me packing outfits that she didn’t like or weren’t comfortable for her. We had no space wasted in the suitcase for clothes that would not see the outside of the suitcase!

Pack low wrinkle clothes

While I’m okay with washing clothes on a trip, ironing them is where I draw the line. We only pack clothes of comfortable knit or other fabrics that have a low wrinkle capacity. Again, the OshKosh line is perfect for this! They have a large assortment of knit leggings, shorts, and other tops that go great in a suitcase!

Are you looking to pick up a few cute spring fashion outfits for your little ones? Use this OshKosh 25% off coupon to save money on their adorable spring clothing line! If shopping online, use the code SPRING16. Use the OshKosh store locator to find a store near you. We used the code to pick up my daughter her “new favorite outfit” (as declared by her).

These hairbows were also a nice addition to the wardrobe. With bright colors, they went with the mix n’ match theme of the clothes.
