When my daughter finished her last day of preschool, she literally came home and cried for hours. She’s going to a new school this fall with new teachers and friends, and I think it all really hit her on the last day of school. I promised her that day that we would have the most fun summer of her life. Hey, she’s little. She really has no memory of summers to which she can compare it. We’ve been having a blast planning special afternoons and times together. One of the misconceptions about summertime fun planning is that it has to be expensive or hard. It doesn’t! All it takes is a bit of planning. Our next fun afternoon has an Under the Water theme. I’m excited to execute these family friendly activities with my kiddos!
We are keeping our activities simple and inexpensive by using materials that we already have at the house. The SeaShell Under the Water creatures are a great way to utilize those seashells that we bring home from the beach every year. I’ll be gathering a few paper plates, fuzzy sticks, felt pieces, fish nets, fish bath toys, and standard craft supplies. With just a few items, we can make all the crafts in the above mood board! I’m planning two easy crafts and one game.
One of the most fun parts of any themed time is a recipe that goes along with all the family fun in the sun! I like using recipes from JELL-O brand because they always have themed recipes that make every day fun! After all, when it’s made with JELL-O, it’s made with love. I’m excited to make this Fish Bowl Fun Recipe. It only uses a few ingredients. I’ll let my daughter help me because that’s half the fun! The marshmallows, fish, and wafers hide in the JELL-O gelatin for an Under the Sea adventure. The berry blue flavor goes along with our theme color, and my boys will have fun “fishing” for the ingredients inside.
