This post was compensated by JELL-O brand. A few weeks ago, I shared how I was planning a group of Under the Water Family Activities for my daughter and family. We had our themed afternoon, and I’m excited to share the full recap of photos and tutorials. I’m not sure what my daughter enjoyed the most- the JELL-O gelatin Fish Bowl Fun recipe, the Seashell Under the Water Sea Creature craft, the Paper Plate Jellyfish Craft, or the Under the Water Catch Game! Take a look at our fun, and let me know which element your kiddos would enjoy the most.
Since the Paper Plate Under the Water Jellyfish Craft needs drying time, we started with that first. We gathered these supplies:
- Blue fuzzy sticks
- Uncoated paper plate
- Paint brush
- Purple paint
- Hole punch
My daughter painted both sides of the paper plate purple.
We let the paint dry completely. Then to complete the craft, I used a hole punch to add holes around the edge of the plate.
My daughter pulled a fuzzy stick through each hole.
Then we knotted the fuzzy sticks to secure them.
I then simply punched a hole in the center with a pencil.
I looped a fuzzy stick through the center hole.
And then I knotted it on the under side of the plate.
We did this craft first, not only for drying time, but also because the Under the Water Jellyfish makes for a great party decoration! At this point, the kids were asking for a snack. I brought out the Fish Bowl Fun that I made with the JELL-O berry blue flavor gelatin. The recipe uses few very ingredients and is easy to make.
My kids thought that discovering the fish in the “water” was an excellent find! This recipe tasted great and was a perfect fit for our Under the Water theme.
In our house, we have to keep everything fair, so making a recipe in single serve cups was a great fit for our little family. It was definite Fish Bowl Fun! Grab the recipe here!
Of course, my boys’ favorite activity was playing in the water. It started with an Under the Water Catch Game, but eventually evolved into plain ol’ water splashing. I used fish nets and bath toys to create a fun fishing game.
I filled up a huge bucket with water, and the boys splashed and caught fish to their hearts’ content! Our final activity was the creativity-inspiring Seashell Under the Water Sea Creatures. This was a great craft to use up extra seashells that we had brought home from the beach. We gathered sea shells, paints, a paint brush, glue, wiggly eyes, and felt pieces that I had cut into sea creature shapes.
My daughter painted the sea shells.
She then glued the dried sea shells to the felt pieces.
And then she glued on wiggly eyes.
The finished result was the cute little Under the Water Sea Creatures!
