Are you a Duck Commander fan? If you enjoy watching the ladies of Duck Commander just as much as the men, then put The Women of Duck Commander on your must-read list. I’ve watched the show that made them famous since it’s launch, and I’ve always wondered if the way that things are portrayed on the show is true of how they are in real life. After all, when it comes to TV, one really never knows for sure. This book reveals intimate details about the ladies’ lives, contains pages of personal photos, and puts a smile on the reader’s face! A special thanks to Family Christian Stores for providing this book for review and to giveaway!
I’ve always said that to fully understand someone, then you must understand their history. I loved the way the book breaks down each of the women’s individual stories yet ties them together as a family unit. Having never read a book that covers multiple people’s lives, I wasn’t sure how the book would approach combining each lady into the book while still portraying their individuality, but it did an excellent job. The book is broken up into Seven Parts with each Part containing Chapters. The ladies are completely honest when it comes to details regarding their past, meeting their spouses, and their relationship with their in-laws. I have to admit that my husband even picked up the book to leaf through the pictures. The photos tell a story within themselves, and there are 8 pages of full color photos.
One of my favorite statements from the book is when Korie is asked about the best advice that anyone ever gave her. Her response was, “A woman can do everything she wants in life, just not all at once.” This statement stood out to me more than almost any other in the book. I struggle with trying to “do it all”, as I revealed a few weeks ago in a blog for Family Christian Stores, and to hear someone as successful as Korie Robertson recognize this as a predicament that women face was reassuring.
Learning more about each woman’s life also allows the reader to specifically identify with one (or more!). I think that no matter what stage of life that you are in, you will find someone in this book with which you connect and relate to on a personal level. While I’ve always watched the show and liked everyone, after reading the book I think Jessica and I would be BFFs. For real. She likes to sew, craft, has a house full of small kids, and always looks stylish. Maybe she could give me a few style tips. While our kids have a play date. I’ve worked it all out in my head.
I enjoyed the ladies’ statements of faith throughout the book, and it proves that they adhere to the “Faith First” mindset of the family. It’s encouraging to see a family unit remain so steadfast to one another and to God.

I love Duck Dynasty and the way they hold to their faith, family, and values even when folks don’t like it. They are always gracious and kind, but never back down. I also love the way they use humor and prove that living the Christian life is not drudgery; it’s real joy through it all!
this is awesome!!
