Do you know Heather from The Sewing Loft? She’s super talented and creative, and now she has a few patterns published with Simplicity! How exciting! I can’t imagine getting such a great opportunity. Fortunately, I was able to review the Backpack Pattern 1602. This fun pattern has options for various backpacks, including owl backpacks and drawstring bags.
I chose a simple drawstring variation. The pattern is easy to understand, and I liked the application for attaching the drawstring. Other patterns that I’ve used in the past have used buttonholes for making drawstring openings, but this pattern does not. I think the drawstring openings look very professional.
The applique was also not difficult. I rate this pattern (at this the drawstring portion that I sewed) to be great for beginner seamstresses. My daughter loves her bag!
