I may or may not be currently counting down the days to spring break. And I’m not the only one. My daughter has a paper calendar in her room where she is marking through the days until spring break. Unlike my boys, who do not even realize it’s spring break until the morning that I’m not waking them up from school, my daughter makes elaborate plans for our week together. One of her favorite things to do is cook. She decides what meals and treats that we are cooking in advance. She has already requested one of our favorites, S’more Waffles, to watch while we enjoy one of her preferred new Netflix shows, “Spirit Riding Free.”
S’mores Waffles are a delicious way to celebrate the classic taste of a summer favorite without the use of an outdoor bonfire. And cooking together is a fun way to spend much needed mother-daughter time together. With the busy schedule of the school year, it can be difficult to carve out time for one-on-one time. Cooking gets our creative juices flowing and allows us special time together. Weekends and spring break are perfect times for this!
For quick and easy show-watching treats, Eggo waffles are versatile for many creations. With a wide range of Eggo products. any of them add a warm, fluffy, and delicious taste to breakfast or dessert recipes. They all toast to a delicious, golden crisp in minutes! For these S’mores Waffles, we have used both the Homestyle Eggo and the Chocolately Chip Eggo in the past. In today’s specific recipe, we are using the Chocolately Chip Eggo. All items and varieties are available at your local Walmart.
- Chocolately Chip Eggo
- Reddi-Wip Original
- Semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Small marshmallows
- Optional: Chocolate syrup
Follow the directions on the Eggo package to heat the Eggo waffle.
Place the Eggo waffle on a microwave-safe plate.
Sprinkle semi-sweet chocolate chips over Eggo.
Place in the microwave for 20 seconds.
Using a spoon, spread the chocolate chips over the Eggo waffle.
Pre-heat the broiler on the oven.
Place the Eggo waffle on a aluminum foil lined baking sheet.
Sprinkle small marshmallows over the Eggo.
Place under the broiler until the marshmallows are turning brown on top.
Remove from oven.
Optional: Drizzle chocolate syrup over the S’mores Waffle.
Add a dollop of Reddi-Wip to the top of the Eggo. Reddi-Wip has less hydrogenated oils than other frozen whipped toppings, and the original flavors use the best dairy cream.
This makes a tasty Netflix watching snack. My daughter likes the show “Spirit Riding Free” on Netflix. This cute show combines the adventures of a 12 year old girl Lucky with the equestrian adventures of a wild mustang named Spirit. Throughout the show, Lucky meets new friends and encounters additional horses in a variety of events. Watch it with your Netflix subscription and download these fun “Spirit Riding Free” activities to supplement snacking and show viewing.
