Growing up in a Christian school, we had to memorize a large variety of Bible verses. If I recall correctly, we had to learn at least one a week. We also had to learn groups of verses, and one of those groups was the Roman’s Road. Have you ever heard of the Roman’s Road? I did a quick survey of a small group of the teenagers in my husband’s youth group, and several of them were not familiar with the term, so I’m not sure if it is a concept that is taught anymore. In short, the Roman’s Road are a grouping of verses that explains the basic teachings of understanding how to have a relationship with Christ. The verses included in the Roman’s Road are designed to go in a certain order. In school, I was able to memorize the verses easily, but I could never remember what order the verses were supposed to go! To this day, I still can’t remember the order. When I started Bible journaling, I thought it would be useful to have a journaling page that would serve as a reference page for me to never forget again!
For this page, I used a combination of washi tape, Prismacolor Watercolor pencils, and regular Prismacolor pencils. I began by placing a different color of washi tape for each verse and writing each verse on a piece in the order that the verses are supposed to go. I then used Prismacolor pencils to create the road below and around the washi tape.
Have you ever heard of the Roman’s Road before? Use Bible journaling to keep the verses handy! Bible journaling is wonderful because it is not only artistic, but it is also useful.
