Did you catch me this past weekend hanging out with the Crafty Hangouts girls? I had a chance to join a few of them on Saturday and discuss ideas for Valentine’s Gifts in a Jar. It was a fun hangout, and I’m embedding it in the post below, but I want to take the opportunity today to do what I didn’t get a chance to do in the video. I only had ONE minute to describe how to make this Peek-a-Boo Valentine Mason Jar. Today you get get the step-by-step tutorial, as well as download the free printable for the jar.
Supplies:
- 1″ paint brush
- Clear mason jar
- Americana Home Decor Chalky Finish in White
- Heart shaped vinyl cut out (removable vinyl)
- Ribbon
- Peek-a-Boo printable
- Hole punch
Begin by adhering the vinyl heart shaped cut out to the smooth side of the jar. Be sure to get the edges nice and tight so the paint does not seep through underneath.
Paint the Americana Home Decor Chalky Finish in White over the jar, including the vinyl cut out. Apply as many coats as necessary to get complete coverage. Let dry completely.
Carefully remove the vinyl heart to reveal the peek-a-boo portion of the jar.
Print off the below Peek-a-Boo printable. To do this, right click on the image to save it to your computer. Then print the image as you would any other from your computer. I printed the heart on approximately a 2″ scale.
Use the hole punch to make holes in the heart printable. Thread ribbon through the holes and tie to the jar.
Fill the jar with candy or treats and seal with the lid. This look is the most eye catching when the color that is painted on the jar and the color of the treats inside are totally different. White treats inside the jar and red painted on the outside would be nice, too!
