Patriotic Glitter Jars that Kids Can Make!

This post is sponsored by Elmer’s as part of their Crafty Parents Crew. All opinions and project ideas are mine.

Do you have kids who absolutely love glitter crafts? Do they love the look of those sparkly glitter jars that are all over Pinterest? My daughter falls into both of those categories! She asks me every day if she can do a glitter craft. I don’t always say yes, because it typically means a big mess, but today’s Patriotic Glitter Jar project is one that can be done with minimal clean up! July 4th is coming up quickly, and this will make a nice craft that the kids can do that will also serve as a piece of decor for patriotic cookouts and parties.

Supplies:

  • 3 Glass jars
  • Elmer’s X-treme School Glue
  • Elmer’s Board Mate Letters
  • Elmer’s Glitter Shakers in patriotic colors
  • Elmer’s Painters Squeeze ‘n’ Brush Assorted 12 pack (only one color needed)
  • Paper plate or other covering for painting
  • Optional: Elmer’s glue, paintbrush

Here’s how to let your kids make these fun glitter jars!

Poor approximately a half an inch of glue into the bottom of the glass jar.

Dump at least half of the glitter shaker into the glue. Stir it up.

Repeat with each of the jars, using patriotic colors. Turn the jars upside down to let them drain. If the glue is too thick at first, use a paintbrush to spread the glue and glitter on the inside of the jar.

While the jars are drying, grab three letters to spell USA from the Elmer’s Board Mate Letters. Place them on the paper plate and use the Painter’s Squeeze ‘n’ Brush color to paint over the letters. Be advised the letters are paper, so go LIGHTLY with the paint. Shake a little glitter on the wet paint for extra sparkle.

Once the letters have dried, attach them to the jars.
