Overnight Cherry-Almond Oatmeal
Hello all! I’m Plucky from Plucky’s Second Thought…but most call me Jess. 🙂 Why “Plucky” you may ask? Well, it was a nickname when I was younger and it was one that was never forgotten! At Plucky’s Second Thought I try to post easy craft projects and recipes that anyone could accomplish. Yep, you don’t have to be Martha Stewart or Rachael Ray to attempt anything on my blog! There are also a variety of travel and product reviews as well as some awesome giveaways and link parties! 🙂
I wanted to share a recent recipe that my family made that is quick, easy, and DELICIOUS!
Everyone knows that the mornings are CRAZY busy! I mean, who has time to get up every morning and make a gourmet breakfast? No one I know! So when we found this recipe in a recent Taste of Homesmagazine, we knew it would be a huge hit!
Ingredients:
- 4 c vanilla almond milk
- 1 c oatmeal
- 1 c dried cherries
- 1/3 c packed brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
Directions:
- Grease a 3 qt crock pot.
- Combine all ingredients into the crock pot.
- Cover and cook on low for 7-8 hours.
What’s the best thing about this recipe? You know everything that is going into this breakfast! There are NO hidden ingredients/chemicals that you tend to find in store bought oatmeal packets! While it’s easy to buy the oatmeal packets, this recipe will change how you think about oatmeal! I mean, how easy is it to throw everything into a crock pot, and walk away?!

Please enjoy this delicious recipe, and I’m sure it’s going to become your family’s favorite like it has mine! 🙂
I made it and it had some good flavor but after 9 hours it was super mushy. I think with less time in the pot it would taste better……maybe 4 hrs?
