Just in case you missed all the hubabalu around here, I had triplet boys earlier this year. As the end to a trying pregnancy, I spent ten days in the hospital- seven before having the boys, and then three afterwards. This stay was extremely difficult. I was miserable, far from the comforts of home, and hooked up to monitors every few hours. I was blessed to have lots of visitors who brought me food and goodies. But during my stay I discovered that there were items I had either forgotten to bring with me or wished that I had sent someone out to buy for me. Do you have a new (or soon-to-be) mom in your life? Here are the must-have essentials to pamper her with a New Mom Hospital Gift Bag, complete with the Cottonelle Clean Care Routine.
Hair Supplies
Being in the hospital means every day is a bad hair day. Hair ties, hair bands, or other supplies are great items to give to a mom in the hospital. And for some reason, those were the items that I completely overlooked to pack in my personal hospital bag.
Toiletry Items
Most hospitals will supply a soap bar or maybe a small vial of lotion, but the brands they offer are generic and not very pampering. If you know the mom’s specific brand preferences, then by all means include those in the bag. But, if not, then pick a popular brand that is a winner with everyone. I liked getting Burt’s Bees products. They have wonderful hand cream and lip balm. A nice soap is a great idea for the bag, too. Buy a small trial size of a soap like Dove. Trust me- your new mom will appreciate using a non-hospital brand soap after her delivery or during her stay.
Cottonelle Clean Care Routine
Ok- let’s be honest. Having a baby, whether by “normal” means or a cesarean section, wreaks havoc on a gal’s nether region. Hospitals supply items like Witch Hazel Pads or little water squirt bottles and rough toilet paper. If there’s anything that needs pampering after having a baby, it’s the nether region for sure. I totally wish that I had thought to ask someone to bring me the toilet paper and moist wipes from the Cottonelle Clean Care routine.
The Cottonelle Clean Care Routine starts with the Cottonelle Fresh Care toilet paper. This toilet paper is super soft, durable, and absorbent- all things that a toilet paper should be after having a baby. Follow it up with the Cottonelle Fresh Care moist wipes. These wipes are flushable (yay!) so no one has to see it thrown in the trash. The wipes are gentle on those wrecked-after-baby intimate parts, and they get rid of that yucky after-birth feeling. The fact that they smell awesome is just another plus. Even if you feel strange giving a new mom toilet paper, the Cottonelle Fresh Care moist wipes are truly a must-have for a New Mom Hospital Gift Bag.

Awesome idea! Even after a c-section, the going was rough and wipes like these were very welcome.
I can’t believe you’re blogging after triplet boys! Congrats on even being able to look at a computer ๐
Great post I would never know what to give a mum to be – not being one myself but I could really see putting together a little pamper pack with these goodies now ๐ X
The Cottonelle wipes really a great idea for after having a baby! Pinning it to my pregnancy board now! Thanks!
I think that a hospital “care kit” for an expectant mama is a great idea, Melanie. I hadn’t ever thought of packing toilet paper, but you’re so right – it’s probably a lot cushier than the hospital grade. Three days post-partum at the hospital must have been very trying. You’re a superwoman (for many reasons)!
Aww..thanks Tara! I would have loved soft toilet paper for the stay haha
I have used these products before and LOVE them! The perfect thing to get you clean!
One of my favorite baby shower gifts was actually something very similar to this – great post, thanks for sharing!
What a great idea!!! I love the Fresh Care wipes!
I never would have thought of this but you are SO right. Putting wipes on my hospital bag list! We already use them at home but I never would have thought to pack some!!
I completely know what you mean! I think I hated the hospital stay even more than the deliveries of my kiddos! This is such a cool idea for a baby shower gift! Will definitely be using this idea next time I have a baby shower to go to!
Love this post! I’ve had 3 kids via c-section, so I understand the importance of all these products. Thanks for sharing.
This is the sweetest thing ever! I love the different bits it has in, especially the Burts Bees items!
My sister made me a care package after I had my boys I was so happy for it! My hair by day number 2 looked crazy. THe only thing she didn’t pack that i really needed was chap stick!
Now on to your triplet boys… All I have to say is wow lol I had each of my boys 1 at a time and I thought I was going crazy with one little baby. I’m a bit in awe of you right now <3
Haha! Thanks Savannah! It’s been quite an experience!
Congrats on your new additions! I agree these items are a must have after babies, especially c-sections. I had three and I learned after the first one what I needed and didnt these were all in my bag ๐
Wow…I was miserable after just one baby….you have much RESPECT with 3 of them! ๐ This is a great idea for new moms in the hospital!
Great idea! I would have loved a nice care package after the births of my kids ๐
That’s a great gift bag! They didn’t have those cleansing cloths 11 1/2 years ago when my daughter was born but I’m sure a new mommy would love them ๐
What a great idea! I was in the hospital for a WEEK with one of my babes and this care package would have been so welcomed! Totally pinning this to remember for the next time someone I know has a baby.:)
That’ll definitely be something I’ll have to try to remember when I’m having my first child someday ๐ Congratulations on your new bundle of joys!
You did such a great job! I love the idea of adding soft things into a new mom hospital bag. It’s something most moms wouldn’t think about needing after baby is born, but it is SO important!
Thanks, Summer!
Melanie, this is such a great idea for a new mom gift! I think Moms are always the last ones to get pampered and the goodies (like the burts bees lotion) are items that any new mom would really love to get!
