My Attempt at the Crochet Monster Hat: Success or Failure? You Decide!

Last weekend, the hubby and I took Princess on a family vacation. We did lots of fun stuff, but I knew that I would have some down time since there was no internet. And since I couldn’t bring my sewing machine and craft room. So I brought along some yarn and crochet hooks and tried to reconnect with my inner crocheter.ย

I printed off the pattern for Crochet Monster Hats from The Boy Trifecta. I started the hat three different times. My husband even got a toboggan out of it. After the third attempt, I finally wound up with this hat:

There was something still not right about it- I couldn’t get my rows to come out evenly and the hat was almost “flared” at the bottom, so I know it’s not perfect by any means. It was my first time crocheting “in the round”, and it did almost make my head spin, so that is perfect terminology. Anyways, what do you think? Is my Crochet Monster Hat a success or failure? Or does it fall into that magical gray area where all not-quite-right craft projects disappear?

For crocheting in the round for the first time you did great!! Sometimes in the round can be really hard. And I say if it fits on the head you intended it to it’s a HUGE SUCCESS!!

Well the great thing about something like a “Monster” hat is that it doesn’t have to be exactly perfect. I think it looks great!

I’m with Kadie,…if it fits, it’s a win. And your model looks pretty adorable in it.
