Ever since I gave birth to the triplets, my mom and mother-in-law have been huge helps with the kids. Even though they both work full time, they still stop by our house a couple times a week to see the boys and allow me to do some uninterrupted housework. Our family has also been struggling with an illness in one of our boys, and our moms have called at least every other day to check on him (and the rest of our family). Moms really are the best, and I want to make to particularly make sure they have the best mom’s day ever this year.
I’ve been trying to find creative ways to give cards, rather than simply in an envelope, and it made me think. What do moms love and can’t get enough of? Photos! My mom and my husband’s mom have something in common. They refuse to go digital. They are always asking me if I’ve had any new pictures of the kids printed lately. Typically, my answer is no. But for Mother’s Day, my answer will be yes! This DIY Card and Photo Display Frame combines the gifting of pictures and the card perfectly. It’s a beginner level project, making it ideal for any crafter regardless of experience.
Supplies needed:
- Chicken wire frame- I purchased mine {Here}.
- Chalk paint
- Paintbrush
- Mini clothes pins
In the photo below, I’ve already painted the frame, but you can still see the supplies needed to complete the DIY portion of the project. Use the chalk paint and paintbrush to cover the bare wood on the frame, and let it dry completely.
Now it’s time to add the card and the pictures!
I found the cutest line of American Greetings Mother’s Day cards at their One Stop Shop at Walmart. Many cards in the line have coordinating bags that you can purchase, too. I picked out this card and bag to go together.
The card has a beautiful message that completely describes what I want to say.
After signing the inside of the card, and perhaps adding a personalized note, use the mini clothes pins to attach the card to the chicken wire portion of the frame.
Do the same with the photos.
Place the frame in the bag, being careful not to bend any photos or the card. Cover it with the tissue paper supplied in the bag, and you’re all set for Mother’s Day!
This is a gift idea that is so easy that it practically puts itself together.

Wow, triplets?! That would be a lot of work, but fun at the same time. It’s great you have such a good support system with family. I love the beautiful cards and card holder. How fun for Mother’s Day! My mom loves pictures of her grandkids so I should make this for her. What a fun idea!
What a great idea for an inexpensive Mother’s Day gift. You’re right! Grandmother’s everywhere will LOVE IT!
This is a really cute card/photo holder. You can even mix it up and use mini and regular sized clothes pins and decorate them too. Fun stuff. I’ll have to enter the giveaway later. =0)

Love this! I did something similar with my jewelry, but I would have never thought to create something like this for a card display. This is so creative. Definitely going to have to try to make one to display my lovely cards this year!
