DIY Mommy Loves Me Shirt and Pot of Gold Giveaway

Last fall, I bought my daughter a sweet little shirt on clearance at Carter’s. She is a self-proclaimed Daddy’s Girl, so I thought a girly “Daddy Loves Me” shirt was perfect for her. Little did I know how attached to that shirt that she would be. She begged me to do the laundry if it was dirty. She wanted to wear it everyday. I guess she was trying to make a statement. Ok, everyone knows you’re a Daddy’s Girl. Hey, what about me? Remember yo’ mama? I’m about to make my own statement. Hence the DIY Mommy Loves Me shirt.

DIY Mommy Loves Me Shirt with Heat Transfer Vinyl

This is an easy heat transfer vinyl shirt. For those new to heat transfer vinyl, see my Tips and Tricks for Using Heat Transfer Vinyl. This project only takes a few supplies: a pre-made shirt and heat transfer vinyl.

Begin by cutting out the words. For crafters with a cutting tool like a Cricut or Silhouette, this will be easy. Remember- if using a cutting tool, be sure to mirror the image! Lay the words on the shirt, making certain that they are straight.

Lay a thin piece of material over the words and press with an iron set on cotton setting until the words are secure. Peel off the plastic overlay.

I added a purple tulle bow for a girly touch.

So what do you think about that, Daddy?

So adorable! Does she wear it just as much or is she still Daddy’s girl?

Our unending winter hasn’t been ideal for short sleeved shirts so we will find out this week! 🙂

Melanie this project is so precious! I’ve never used HTV. Do you like it? Is it stiff or soft once it’s applied? How does it wash?

I do like using it. It is not stiff, and my projects have washed well so far. Sometimes you have to press it again after getting it out of the laundry, but that’s about it!

Not at all! When Pick Your Plum has it on sale, I always stock up then. But if I need something specific at a certain time then I order from My Vinyl Direct or Expressions Vinyl.

I really love t-shirt crafts and that gold one is crazy good! This is a strange Q but did you cut the letters on gold paper then cover it with the vinyl or do they sell heat transfer vinyl in gold? I don’t have a silhouette or a cricut so that’s why I’m asking.

That’s not a strange question at all! I purchased actual gold heat transfer vinyl from My Vinyl Direct.

That is so sweet! I miss the days that my boys were young enough that they would wear a shirt like that. Hopefully your super cute shirt convinces her that it is just as fun to be a Mommy’s girl! 😉
