In December I was the lucky parent who was able to take our daughter to her very first movie at the theater– the amazing hit FROZEN. Ever since that day, my daughter has been FROZEN obsessed! We’ve downloaded the soundtrack and watched scenes from the movie on YouTube a gazillion times. Her dad bought her a FROZEN shirt that she wears to school almost every other day (heaven forbid I forget to do the laundry and it’s dirty!). She’s asked every day for a month when the movie is coming out on DVD. She isn’t quite old enough to understand time yet, so I am asked Every. Single. Day. My husband will probably have to take her to Walmart at the crack of dawn on March 18th to pick up the FROZEN DVD! Walmart will have a special price drop from $16.96 to $14.96 on the movie, so we are definitely buying it. I’m excited to plan a fun movie night, but for now I’ll settle for our awesome FROZEN shopping spree and play date!
We both were beyond excited when we loaded up in the car on Saturday and drove to Walmart to shop for FROZEN toys. Well, I should say that I was excited. I didn’t tell my daughter what we were doing until we actually got to Walmart. I took a video of her excitement over our spontaneous toy shopping trip.
)
My daughter has actually been saving up for two weeks for the item at the top of her wish list– the Disney FROZEN Castle Play Set. She’s been doing additional chores around the house and keeping her extra earnings in a special envelope. We took her envelope with us and combined it her our FROZEN toy allowance to buy the ultimate FROZEN toy collection!
Of course, since we were buying the Disney FROZEN Castle Play Set, we had to have dolls to go with it! She picked out the Anna Sparkle Doll, Elsa Sparkle Doll, and the Kristoff Sparkle Doll. I love the look on her face as we are shopping for the dolls!
She panicked for a moment because the FROZEN section at Walmart was a little lean, but then we discovered a special FROZEN endcap that was loaded with merchandise, including the castle.
As a blogger, I always try to take awesome product packaging pictures when I get home, but in this case that would have resulted in a melt down. We couldn’t even make it out of the parking lot before my daughter was trying to rip the dolls out of the package. In her words exactly, “Just take a picture with your phone, Mom! I’ll hold it any way that you want!” So here are two of our awesome can’t-wait-to-get-home car pics. I actually didn’t even get one of Elsa- she had already ruined the package trying to pry her out. Eager beaver.
I talked the hubby into watching the boys so that we could continue our #FROZENfun at home. After putting the doll house together, I made us both an easy Eggo Waffle snack for our play date. I made two creations– a fun Easy Olaf Eggo for my daughter and a Fruit Waffle Taco for me! Specially marked 24 count Eggo Waffles will also have a $5 off offer for the FROZEN DVD!
Easy Olaf Eggo
Ingredients:
- One cooked Eggo Waffle
- Vanilla yogurt
- Baby carrots
- Raisins
With the cooked Eggo flat on a plate, spread a generous amount of vanilla yogurt on the Eggo.
Cut a baby carrot in half, angling the cut edge. Place it in the middle of the Eggo as Olaf’s nose. Arrange the raisins as the eyes and Olaf’s “hair”.
Super simple, right? Keeping healthy snacks fast and easy is a great way to ensure that I actually serve healthy snacks!
Fruit Waffle Taco
Ingredients:
- One cooked Eggo Waffle
- Vanilla or plain greek yogurt
- Fresh strawberries, sliced thinly
- Fresh blueberries, if available, or frozen thawed blueberries
Spread a generous amount of yogurt on Eggo. Top with berries and fold in half.
This snack is absolutely awesome! Skip those high calorie waffle tacos at fast food places and make this quick Waffle Taco instead.
The best way to encourage the kids to eat healthy is to be an example. Have a #FROZENfun playdate the healthy way! We had a blast playing with our new FROZEN toys and snacking. It was an awesome way to reconnect over a playdate inspired by a movie that we both adore.
On that note, I’ll leave you with a not so fancy, but very passionate tour of the Disney FROZEN castle.
Your daughter has such an adorable face! She must be very blessed to have such a fun mommy!
I have to say I LOVE this post! You can totally see and feel your daughters excitement over her new toys!
When she asked you to “Just take a photo with your camera” I had to laugh. That sounds so much like my kids! It sounds like you both had a wonderful day together.
We are super excited about the movie coming out too. We are planning a fun party for the movie release too. 😉
I can’t wait to see what you do for the movie release!
I love the castle tour – too cute!! What a great idea to take her out on a mommy & me Frozen day, she looks like she had so much fun!
She really did!
How cute! I love the vanilla yogurt on the waffle, and the fruit taco sounds delicious! 🙂

Melanie I think I should call you HRH Eggo Waffle! You can make anything with an Eggo Waffle! 🙂
We have several of these Frozen toys in our home and my daughter loves them! Frozen is our favorite movie right now and we are singing the songs all of the time! Your daughter is so cute – the waffles look delicious as well!
My daughter sleeps with her dolls at the foot of her bed! lol
So cute!!!! Love all her excitement about the new toys! And your Olaf-inspired waffle looks darling (and tasty)! #client
Loving the videos! We still need to check out Frozen…it’s on my weekend to-do list 🙂
I think this is one case where the photo blur actually tells the story better than the “perfect” photo. That’s awesome, and she is adorable when she’s so excited!! Loved reading this post!!
This is too much fun!! My youngest would LOVE this! Pinned!
I still haven’t seen Frozen!!! Love this waffle idea, so cute!
Your daughters face is priceless! So adorable – looks like you guys had an awesome time! AND those waffles look YUMMY!
