The woman at the well, or the Samaritan woman, is never named in Scripture. Yet every time I read the story, I find myself wishing that I knew her name and more about her. The few things, mostly not aspiring characteristics, that we know about her are not all of her story. She was so much more of a person. And these things, the things that we do not know about her, are what Jesus saw. He saw who she could be and what she was meant to be. He saw what was missing from her life- the water that gives everlasting life- and offered it to her. So even though the story of the woman at the well may inspire a list of questions from inquisitive elementary kids, it should not be skipped. What an opportunity to share with them that Jesus sees them for who they are/who they can be and that he is the answer to all they seek! After sharing this story, make a woman at the well Bible craft for kids as a teaching tool.

How to Make a Woman at the Well Bible Craft for Kids:
Step One- Creating the round well
Using the brown marker, draw block shapes horizontally across the longer of the brown pieces of construction paper. These do not need to be perfect as bricks/blocks are rarely always the same.
Cut 1/2″ slits across the bottom of the paper.
Glue the short ends of the paper together.
Fold the cut slits towards the inside of the well.
Try to insert the blue circle in to the inside of the well. This will be the bottom of the well and is meant to symbolize water. If the circle does not fit, trim a bit off until it does. Add glue to the outer edges of the circle and place it inside the well. The glued edges should adhere to the folded in portion of the brown construction paper.
Step Two- Making the well top
Glue the two regular length craft sticks to the sides of the well, directly opposite of one another.
Place glue on the top of each of the craft sticks. Press the mini craft stick to the glue to secure.
Fold the remaining piece of brown construction paper in half. Write John 4:4-42 on one side or both sides. Use glue to secure it to the top of the well.
