Are you looking for a fun way to wrap up the Christmas season? Or maybe you’re entertaining out-of-town guests? Here are 5 Last Minute Bucket List Christmas Event Ideas! Thank you to Charlotte Motor Speedway for hosting our family with a ticket for their Speedway Christmas event.
I enjoy the Christmas season. It’s fun to decorate the tree, wrap gifts, and see friends and family at Christmas parties. Yet at the end of the Christmas season, I always have a few things that I wished that I had done over the past month. There are so many local holiday events, and it is hard to squeeze them all in the packed seasonal schedule. I have an ongoing mental list of Christmas events that I plan to make it to one of these days. I try to mark at least one or two of them off every year by intentionally planning them far in advance of the Christmas season. Too often Christmas passes, and I think “Oh, man, I wish I had made it to ____!”
If you find yourself in the same position, here are 5 Last Minute Bucket List Christmas Events to add to your calendar before Christmas is over. These also make great events for family or friends who may be visiting from out of town.
#1 A Showing of the Nutcracker
We’re headed to our first visit to the Nutcracker this year. With a few major cities around us, we have several Nutcracker options. We’re taking the kids to a special kid-friendly Nutcracker show, complete with character meet and greets. Look up showings of the Nutcracker in your area or surrounding cities. Snag those tickets before they are sold out!
#2 A Fantastic Light Show
Riding around neighborhoods to see Christmas lights is one of my favorite childhood memories. We try to take the kids to see a light show every year. This year, I marked the Speedway Christmas at Charlotte Motor Speedway off my Christmas Event Bucket List. The light show exceeded my expectations! My kids were fascinated by the lights that moved in sync with the program music, and my husband was enamored with the fact that we were driving our van on the actual race track. It is more than simply a light show; it’s a family experience! Check out their website for admission prices and hours.
#3 Local Christmas Craft Show
My sister sells at many local craft shows during the holidays, and I always love seeing the photos of the vendors. Christmas craft shows abound during the holiday season, and they are a great place to pick up unique gift ideas and Christmas decor (plus, supporting local crafts and business women/men is awesome!).
#4 Ice Skating
Check out your local rink for public skating times. This would make a fun before or after holiday party event.
#5 Gingerbread House Competition
Attending the National Gingerbread House Competition in Asheville has been on my list for some time. However, many areas and cities have their own Gingerbread House competition. Or maybe host one of your own!
