I found this idea in the Lowe’s Creative Ideas magazine. The above picture is their project- they obviously used it in a living room. If you don’t subscribe to this magazine (it’s free!!), you are totally missing out on some neat seasonal ideas. The magazine comes out quarterly and features not only neat ideas, but a project list and price list to accompany most of the project ideas. Every now and then they will also surprise you by including coupons in the magazine! You can subscribe to receive the magazine on their website.
When we were remodeling our kitchen, we wanted a piece of wall art that was large and matched our kitchen decor. We started looking at local stores (Target, Walmart, JC Penney’s, Etc), and WOW! Wall art is expensive! And it was so difficult to find anything that we really liked. One day I received my quarterly Lowe’s Creative Ideas Magazine in the mail, and this project immediately stood out to me. I showed it to the hubby, and he must have loved it too, because four days later I had this stunning new piece on my kitchen wall!
I won’t go into all the details on how to make it. The Lowe’s Creative Ideas webpage has a detailed list of supplies, costs, and instructions. I will point out a few things of note:
- We did not spend $110 like the project post says. I think they over estimate it sometimes. We used items that we already had on hand and less expensive items to keep the cost down.
- Your stencil is a rubber floor mat! What a great way to repurpose something.
- Use paint leftover from other house projects to coordinate your wall art with your home decor and save money!
