Christmas Craft Table for Kids

Kids can get antsy at Christmas parties while waiting for food or present-opening. A Kids’ Christmas Craft Table is a fun way to occupy them and be crafty at the same time! A special thank you to Oriental Trading for providing the goodies for this fun, child-friendly party!

Contrary to what my kids believe, I do actually remember what it was like to be a kid at Christmas. There’s so much anticipation. And, for some reason, my parents wanted to chat, eat, and visit instead of opening presents! The audacity! 🙂

If you have a large family with many kids, a craft table can be just the thing to keep them occupied so that mom and dad can sneak that last piece of pumpkin pie. My sister and I tried out a last-minute, make shift Christmas craft table for kids last year for a family gathering, and it was fun! I’m expanding on the idea this year, using craft kids from Oriental Trading.

When hosting a Christmas craft table for kids, there are a few tips to keep in mind:

  • If you have lots of younger (preschool-aged) kids, try to have an adult or a family teenager at the table helping the smaller kiddos. This can be rotated with other moms.
  • Have all the supplies that you need set out at the table ahead of time (kits, crayons, markers, etc.).
  • Place a marker on the table for each kid to write their name or initial on the back of their creation. Nothing ruins Christmas spirit faster than cousins fighting over who made an ornament!
  • Make one of each items ahead of time so that the kids can see what they are making. The Oriental Trading kits come with individual instructions, but if the child can’t read, then having a visual will be helpful for them.

I like that Oriental Trading has a large selection of religious craft kits that support my family’s belief that Jesus is the Reason for the season!

Set up a small tree on or beside the craft table to display your finished ornaments or for the kids to hang their finished ornaments before they leave.
