What is the first Bible verse that you ever learned? Does John 3:16 come to mind? It does mine! It’s the first verse that my daughter learned, and we’ve already started teaching it to the boys. Even though it’s a familiar verse, I always want to make sure that I do not take it for granted. There is a reason why it is the first Bible verse that so many people learn. It contains crucial elements of the crux of our faith. What a wonderful verse!
A few weeks ago, my friend Mary and I hosted our first Bible Journaling workshop. We had decided ahead of time that we would use John 3:16 as one of the initial verses that we would encourage the attendees to journal. In preparation for the workshop, I went ahead and added a journaling entry for the verse so that I would have an example to show everyone.
While meditating on the verse, the words “LOVE” and “WORLD” specifically stood out to me. I wanted to focus on those two words, and that’s what inspired the entry. I am definitely not an artist, and I am terrible at free hand drawing, so I was pleased at how well this entry turned out.
I used a combination of (aff link) Prismacolor Watercolor Pencils and (aff link) regular Prismacolor Pencils. This was my first journaling attempt with the watercolor pencils, and I am now hooked! I use them in almost all of my Bible Journaling now. This was also my first Bible journaling entry that I did over the words across both pages.
Have you journaled John 3:16? I would love to see it! Share it on my Facebook page, and I will check it out!
