I {Heart} Apple Felt Hair Clips (a no-sew project)

Unless your kiddo goes to a year round school, it’s almost time for school to be back in session! Here are simple felt Apple Hair Clips that your little scholar can sport for her first day back int he classroom. And, best of all, they are totally no-sew. As long as you can use scissors and hot glue, you’re in the clear!

A no-sew project!

Supplies

  • Varied felt scraps
  • Hot glue gun/hot glue
  • Tulip fabric paint in black
  • Alligator clips

What makes these clips so easy is that the cut shape is simply a heart! Throwback to the old school method of cutting out heart shapes- fold the felt in half and cut out the heart. The heart can be as large as you want to make it. This will be the outer part of the apple. To have more of an apple shape, cut a flat bottom instead of a pointy bottom when finishing up the heart.

Now do the same thing in a cream or white color (this will be the inside of the apple).

Hot glue the inner portion on top of the outer portion.

Now take the Tulip black fabric paint and make “seeds” on the cream or white colored portion.

Using another felt remnant, cover the top part of the alligator clip. I usually just wrap a small piece around, hot glue, and cut off any excess. End by hot gluing the apple heart on top of this.

I am thrilled today to be teaming up with some of #myfavoritebloggers.  And, they really are.  Although I have yet to meet any of these ladies in person, I consider them all friends.  Over the short time I have been blogging, they have become good friends and amazing supporters.  I’d love to introduce them to you:

They are, from left to right, top down:

Kristen from One Tough Mother; Sky from Creative Captial B; Marilyn from 4 You with Love; Tara from Surburble; Bethany from Pitter and Glink; Melanie from It Happens in a Blink; Kara from Petal to Picots; ChiWei from One Dog Woof; Sarah from Repeat Crafter Me; Kadie from 7 Alive; Nancy from Small Things with Love; and Amy from One Artsy Mama.

Just for fun we decided to team up once a month and create projects based on a common theme.  This month’s theme is APPLES.  It was fun coming up with my project, but even more fun to see the creative projects the other ladies made.  Check it out:

After you are done here, head over and check out some of these other great APPLE projects.  The links are all listed at the bottom of this post.
