In my Cricut Facebook Group, I sometimes share special font deals and font freebies. The most common question that I receive when doing this is “How do I upload the font to Cricut Design Space after purchasing or downloading the font?”. Uploading a new font to Cricut Design Space is easy, but if you miss a few crucial steps at the beginning, you will find yourself beyond frustrated. Follow these step by step directions to upload your new favorite font to Cricut Design Space.
Please note that the following steps are shown using a PC.
Cricut Design Space pulls fonts into its system that are installed on your computer. Before beginning, close Cricut Design Space if you have it open on your computer so that the program can pull your new font when you start it again.
Step 1
Find your font. I always recommend using a site that has commercial use fonts. Even if you only plan to use the font for a personal project, you never know when someone will love your project and ask to buy one! Using a font approved for commercial use makes sure that you are covered. Commercial use fonts do not have to be expensive! I use fonts from Hungry Jpeg or Font Bundles. They are inexpensive and both sites have a free font each week.
Step 2
After locating your font, download it to the computer. No matter where you have purchased or found the font, there should be a download button.
Step 3
After the font has downloaded, locate the file on your computer. When the fonts are downloaded to your computer, it will be in a zip file. This zip file must be extracted in order to use the font.
Step 4
Right click on the zip file. Click Extract.
Step 5
Choose a destination folder for the font. Your computer will automatically suggest a folder. I just use the one it populates.
Step 6
Once the zip file has finished extracting, open up the new font folder. Locate the font icon within the file. Double click to open up the font.
Step 7
Click install. This will install the font onto your computer.
Step 8
Open up Cricut Design Space. The new font should now be in your font list!
