How to Curve Text in the New Cricut Design Space

Since becoming more involved with Cricut over the past few years, Cricut users have asked for a specific feature loud and clear: an easier way to curve text. Previously, users could curve text in the Design Space program by ungrouping each letter of a word of text and manually curve the text. This could be time consuming and tedious. The Design Space developers at Cricut listened, and now curving text couldn’t be easier!

Within the Cricut Design Space text editing panel, a “Curve Text” icon now appears anytime a user types a line of text. The user can click the icon and use the slider to curve the text in either a concave or convex shape. The text can also be curved into a circle. It really is as simple as that!

How to Curve Text in the New Cricut Design Space

I created a quick video to demonstrate how to curve text in Cricut Design Space. Watch it below to see for yourself how easy creating custom text for your projects can be.

Keep in mind that the curving text option only works for a single line of text. For instance, it you type a sentence of text that is in rows, the curve text icon will not appear.

I have heard users comment that they believe this feature will take their projects to the next level! It definitely takes the guess work out of curving text. Users can also insert a image or shape and curve a line of text around the image. I will definitely be using this for iron-on vinyl projects in the near future. My friend Jessica from Everyday Party Magazine has already used this feature on a cute shirt. She circled her text around an adorable dog image cut with the new Cricut Patterned Iron-on. Click here to see her project.

Tried it, Design Space kept crashing. It is SOOOOOOoooo limited compared to Adobe’s and Corel’s text-to-path and envelope text tools. (Not to mention, you can’t properly kern your text before curving, so it still looks stupid.)

Hi, no, the new curve text button is only available on desktop versions of the software.

All I needed was how to curve my text. I already know about where text is and how to otherwise manipulate it. Seriously SEVEN MINUTES before getting to what this tutorial is supposed to teach?

Hi, if you are speaking of the video, the video is an overview of many text related functions in Design Space. The video itself is titled “How to Edit Text in Design Space.” I am sorry that you did not find it helpful.
