Hello Spring Shirt with Cricut

This Hello Spring Shirt project idea and post is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Cricut. The opinions and text are all mine.

Our calendar said “spring” a few weeks ago, but it has taken a while for the weather to get the memo. I decided that I wasn’t going to officially recognize spring until it was here. Thankfully, this week has ushered in tulips, sunshine, and warmer weather. Hello, Spring! I’m so darn excited that I made this super cute Hello Spring shirt with my Cricut for a friend’s little girl.

It’s no secret that I adore making cute iron-on projects for myself, my kiddos, and as gifts. But, wowza, are my iron-on projects going up a notch with the gorgeous new Patterned Iron-on from Cricut! The Cricut® Anna Griffin® Charlotte Patterned Iron-On Sampler that I’m using in today’s project is just a glimpse of the variety of patterns offered in the Patterned Iron-on Cricut line. Though I’m making a shirt today, I’m excited to use it on pillow covers and canvas bags. All of the Patterned Iron-on come in sampler packs with three sheets of iron-on vinyl that are grouped as coordinating patterns, making it easy to put together cute projects.

Speaking of easy, the Cricut EasyPress is also making my Cricut crafting easier. Going from a home iron to the Cricut EasyPress is like going from riding a bicycle to being chauffeured in a limo. Seriously. If you create many iron-on projects, I definitely recommend checking out the Cricut EasyPress. If you are worried about your crafting surface, the Cricut EasyPress Mat protects it from the heat of the Cricut EasyPress. Since I was using, um, folded up towels (don’t tell anybody!), the Cricut EasyPress Mat is definitely a step up!

So let’s grab a lovely sheet of Patterned Iron-on and create this cute shirt!

Supplies:

  • Cricut machine (I’m using the Cricut Explore Air 2)
  • Cricut cutting mat
  • Cricut weeding tool (from the Cricut Tools Basic Set)
  • Cricut® Anna Griffin® Charlotte Patterned Iron-On Sampler
  • Cricut Iron-on Lite in Maize
  • Cricut EasyPress
  • Cricut EasyPress Mat
  • T-shirt

Begin by opening up Cricut Design Space. Click HERE to use my Cricut Design Space file! It is sized for a size 4 t-shirt. If you are using a smaller or larger shirt, customize the design to fit your shirt measurements.

Send the design to your Cricut machine to cut on the Cricut cutting mat.

Cricut Explore Air 2

Once both the Patterned Iron-on and the Iron-on Lite designs have been cut, use the weeding tool to remove the iron-on vinyl that does not belong on the design.

Place the Cricut EasyPress Mat on a firm, flat surface. Place the t-shirt on top.

Preheat the Cricut EasyPress. Following the Cricut EasyPress instructions, preheat the shirt.

Position the design from the Cricut Patterned Iron-on on the shirt.

Use the Cricut EasyPress to adhere the design to the shirt.

Wait for the liner to cool completely and then remove the liner.

Apply the “Hello Spring” wording to the center of the design. Do NOT layer it over the Patterned Iron-on, as this is not recommended by the manufacturer.

Reduce the Cricut EasyPress heat and time to the recommended settings per the Cricut EasyPress instructions. I keep the little Cricut EasyPress instruction book handy for all my projects so that I can easily look up what settings that I need for different types of material/projects. Use the Cricut EasyPress to adhere the wording to the shirt.

Again, wait for the liner to cool completely before removing the liner.

Done!

What do you think of the Cricut Patterned Iron-on? I would love to know what you’ll be making with it first!

This looks fun to make. I think if I had a machine like this, I’d make sarcastic shirt sayings. I’d definitely have fun with that one.
