My Princess is finishing up her first year of dance. She has adored dance class, and I’m excited to see what she’s learned. We haven’t had a sneak peak of what they’ve been doing since Christmas, so it will be interesting to see if she does more than a Freeze Dance. Of course, no matter how she performs, the hubby and I want to share it with all of our family. Which leads to the obvious, super cute {and girly} dance recital invitation.
I have a Cricut, but I do not have a cartridge with any dance cut-outs. I also remember when I didn’t have a Cricut and how frustrating it was to run across cute tutorials that require a die-cutting device.
Skill Level: Beginner
Materials Needed:
Paper for “foot” (I used cream)
Paper for dance/ballet shoe (I used bright pink- it’s the color or Princess’ dress)
Coordinating ribbon
A decorative brad
Hot glue gun with glue
Elmer’s glue stick
Printer
Step One
Roughly sketch a foot as shown below. Cut it out. Use this to create a “shoe” that will cover the foot.
Step Two
Use the Elmer’s glue stick to glue the shoe to the foot. Don’t worry if it doesn’t match up completely- the excess can be cut off later.
Step Three
Using a hot glue gun, glue the ribbon. Here is the best order that I found to glue the ribbon
- Glue the lower diagonal ankle ribbon piece first.
- Glue ribbon across the top of the shoe
- Glue the upper diagonal ankle ribbon.
- Glue the middle ankle ribbon
Step Four
Type up the invitation wording and print it out on the foot colored cardstock (in my case, cream). Use the foot template to cut around the wording. Make sure that the wording is centered in the largest part of the foot.
Step Five
Place the front and back of the invitation together and attach with a decorative brad. I considered making a cute flower or other piece to put around the brad, but I was afraid it would be too much…
Clean up any excess. ๐
