For a long time, I’ve waned to be better at meal planning. We eat fairly healthy at our house, but often I’m flying by the seat of my pants. Oops! It’s 4:00. What’s for dinner?!?! And I had better not ask out loud or the kids chime in with their individual requests. My husband has even been known to call around 10 am to ask me what we are having for dinner. Planning takes the guess work out of meal time for every one, and by using a printable laminated planner, I can write the meals down, whether they are from my own recipe or a delicious HelloFresh meal, so that everyone knows what we are eating that day. Yep, even the hubby can know what we are having before he leaves for work.
Tips to Make Meal Planning Easier
Sit down at a designated time to jot down meals for the week. Saturday mornings or Sunday afternoons work best for me. Do you use phone reminders? Place a reminder in your phone to meal plan until it becomes habit.
Have “go-to” meals that you know that you can automatically write down on the planner without thinking. I have a variety of meals like this; they are things like the kids’ favorites, etc.

My favorite recipe from last week’s box is the Roasted Pork. With potatoes, green beans, and a lip-smacking fig sauce, this recipe is one that I want to make over and over again! I love that I can create a recipe that looks identical to the one in the photo. Maybe I have the makings of a professional chef? 🙂
My husband loved this salad! With a spicy pepper kick and creamy avocado, this didn’t last long in our house.
Here are a few things that I noticed with my HelloFresh experience:
- The produce arrived ripe and fresh.
- The avocado was not quite ripe, but the box included a card with instructions on how to ripen, etc.
- Each of the other ingredients came with in small, individual portions to add in easily.
- The recipes were easy to follow.
- Most recipes can be made in 45 minutes or less.
- The recipes have been verified and tested, meaning that they are guaranteed to be great!
