The creativity centers in a child’s brain explode during exploration. I love watching my kids “hunt” for items. Even if it is simply for a missing toy in the house, they amaze me with their unique ideas of where the item may be hiding. An outdoor scavenger hunt is fun any time of year, and I made this one for my kids to use on summer break.
I’m including two versions of the scavenger hunt- one with a Bible verse and one without.
This scavenger hunt is broken up into two sections. The top section consists of general items, and the bottom consists of specific items.
Children should be supervised during this activity. Please remind children of general outdoor safety while participating in this scavenger hunt.
For those using this for a Vacation Bible School, Children’s Church, or Sunday School class, I’ve included Psalm 24:1.
“The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof, the world and those who dwell therein,”
This would coordinate with any creation study or Biblical nature study.
I’ve also included a regular version with out the Bible verse.
For a VBS or classroom setting, prize boxes are always fun to complete a scavenger hunt. The Treasure Boxes from Oriental Trading are my favorite. Kids like the look of the treasure box itself, and I like that it comes with a variety of items inside and that I can refill it.
For this particular box, several of the more delicate items are individually wrapped.
