If you have a few craft supplies on hand, you can create this Foam Butterfly Craft (with magnet option) as a way to pass summertime boredom or as a fun group craft. The supplies were provided by CraftProjectIdeas.com. This post is sponsored by them, though all opinions are my own.
My kids love butterflies. One summer, we purchased one of those butterfly kits so that they could watch the caterpillars make their cocoons and transform. My daughter created butterfly art projects when she was younger and even wrote a comic book on butterflies once. When I received a box of art supplies from CraftProjectIdeas.com, the foam sheets begged to be turned into butterflies. This simple Foam Butterfly Craft (with magnet option) only uses a few craft supplies, but kids can be as creative as they desire.
Please note that this craft is only for those 5 years old and older who are no longer placing objects into their mouths.
Supplies for the Foam Butterfly Craft (with Magnet Option):
- Foam sheets
- Adhesive gemstones
- Jumbo craft sticks
- Glue stick
- Scissors (kid-friendly scissors those in elementary school)
- Optional: Adhesive Magnet circles
Steps to Make:
Cut butterfly shapes out of the foam sheets that are at least 6 inches in length.
Glue a jumbo craft stick down the center.
Apply adhesive gemstones on the wings of the butterflies.
Use the marker to draft antennae at the top of the large craft stick.
To make the butterfly a magnet, apply adhesive magnet circles on the the back of the butterfly foam shapes. Add one to the top and bottom of each wing.
