Around Christmas time I ordered this neat kraft etch-a-sketch type notebook from Pick Your Plum. I ordered it from the site plain and intended to embellish it as a stocking stuffer for my daughter. Of course, time got away from me, and I never did it. I’ve been hanging on to it for a rainy day– and once I decided how I wanted to decorate it. One of the fun things about being a blogger is getting to try out new crafting products. Recently, I received one of the new Mod Podge Peel and Stick Stencils from Amy over at Mod Podge Rocks. These special stencils allow crafters to easily add glitter to a project in different patterns. I knew that this would be the perfect thing to use for my little notebook. My daughter’s as girly as they come, so I knew she would like the glitter accent.
Here’s how to easily embellish a plain notebook of your own.
- Matte Mod Podge
- Plain notebook
- Mod Podge Peel and Stick Stencil— I am using the Chevron pattern for my project
Begin by removing the stencil from it’s backing and pressing the stencil in place on the notebook.
Apply a thick layer of Mod Podge over the stencil.
Shake a generous amount of glitter on the Mod Podge. Cover completely.
Let dry, then shake off the excess glitter. I try to save mine for a future project.
Easy, right? I then used my Cricut Plantin Schoolbook cartridge to cut out the word “Princess” to add to the notebook so there would be no confusion as to the owner. 🙂
Happy crafting! Look for these stencils at your local Michael’s Stores.
