While my husband and I typically entertain at least two or three times in our home during the holidays, we also travel quite a bit. I don’t like to show up anywhere empty handed, but I also want to make sure that I am taking an appetizer or dish that is portable and will arrive to our destination intact. Last year, the Sharp Cheddar Kaukauna® Cheese Ball that I took to a Christmas lunch was a smashing hit. So why change things up if they are a crowd favorite? I’m taking another Sharp Cheddar Kaukauna® Cheese Ball (and a Smoky Bacon variety!) to a holiday gathering next week, and I’m making these crunchy (and easy) Pita Crackers to go along with it.
Easy Pita Crackers Ingredients:
- Pita bread
- Olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon Pink Himalayan sea salt
- 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
How to Make Pita Crackers:
Cut the pita bread into wedges.
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
Place the wedges on a baking sheet.
In a small bowl, mix the seasoning and the Pink Himalayan sea salt.
Using a silicone brush, spread olive oil on the wedges. Sprinkle with half of the mixture.
Flip the wedges over and repeat with the olive oil and the remaining seasoning mixture.
Bake for 10-12 minutes. Keep an eye on the crackers, especially during the last few minutes of baking. They will begin to crisp quickly.
Tips: For softer crackers, bake longer. For crispy crackers, bake 12+ minutes.
You can experiment with different seasoning combinations to pair with your favorite Kaukauna® Cheese Ball variety. With choices like Smoky Bacon, Pepper Jack, Bacon Jalapeño, Asiago Cheese, and Sriracha, there is a flavor for every palate.
This looks really awesome! It makes so much sense to buy a cheeseball instead of making one. Years ago I tried to make one and it was a disaster. However I’ve not thought about making the chips. What a great idea and they look tasty. I’ll have to put this recipe in my file. Thanks.
This is one of my favorite things to eat. Pita and cheese is my go to when watching movies or hosting a get together. I have never tried making my own crackers though.
I enjoy pita bread … maybe a little too much. I did not realize how easy it’d be to make my own. I probably will twice as much now.
What a great recipe for the holidays. I love those Kaukauna® cheeseballs. They are the perfect thing to bring to a party. I have never thought of making my own Pita Crackers. your recipe looks super easy. I think I will be trying this for Thanksgiving.
I’m addicted to Kaukauna cheeeseballs.
Oh wow, that is an easy recipe! I love pita crackers with hummus, and this is definitely a ton cheaper than buying a box of premade crackers. My brother makes homemade hummus, maybe I’ll have to make these for our family party to go with it!
I love this idea! It’s always good to show up with a little something when arriving at friends or family’s homes over the holidays. I often purchase the Kaukauna cheese products. I love your recipe for the pita crackers too! Thanks for the ideas!
Those crackers look so yummy! I’m more of a savoury than sweet person so I really enjoy snacks and party foods like this. I’ll give them a try!
The crackers look tasty. A great snack for rhe holidays.
I used to make cheeseball all the time for holidays. Kaukauna is my go to now. It saves me so much time and it is just as good. By the time i buy all the ingredients i save money. Love the pita cracker recipe!
These pita chips look so tasty! This brand is one of my favorite! I get them in the balls, logs, and even the spread! Always an easy way to have a snack and put together appetizers!
