Have you noticed how popular a Christmas Simmer Pot is on social media? I’m not surprised. A simmer pot makes your home smell warm and home-y and festive! Putting together an Easy Christmas Simmer Pot in a bag is also a great gift idea that doesn’t break the bank.
I’ve given Christmas Simmer Pot Gifts in the past, but I received one for the first time this year. The kids had fun helping me get it prepared. It was easy with a great end result.
What is a Simmer Pot?
A simmer pot is a stovetop potpourri. It is a great way to make your home smell fresh without artificially fragranced candles. You can use a variety of fresh items in a simmer pot to make your home smell inviting. It does not take long to make, and a simmer pot can “simmer” all day long. You may already have the items that you’ll need to create a simmer pot in your pantry! Just remember to turn off the stovetop before heading out the door or to bed.
Supplies for the Easy Christmas Simmer Pot
- 1 orange
- 1 cup of fresh cranberries
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- A few springs of evergreen (maybe from your Christmas tree?)
How to Make
Cut the orange into five to six rounds. Add six to six and a half cups of water to a large pot. Place the orange rounds inside the pot. Add the cranberries, cinnamon sticks, and evergreen to the pot of water. Bring the pot of water to a boil. Once it begins to boil, turn the oven down to a simmer.
Allow the pot to simmer as long as you would like. Enjoy the fresh scent of the season!
