The older my kids get, the more that I recognize a specific problem: stinky shoes. My boys are still little, but even they get smelly shoes after playing outdoors for a length of time. This can be a big problem for moms of athletes. Stinky shoes + a Gym Bag = Yucky Smells! This DIY Shoe Deodorizer Spray, made with essential oils, is a great way to make even the stinkiest shoes smell great!
- Small spray bottle
- Rubbing alcohol
- Nature’s Truth Purify Essential Oil
Wash and dry and spray bottle completely. Fill the bottle a little more than halfway with rubbing alcohol.
Fill the remainder of the bottle with water, leaving a minimum of 1 inch of space at the top of the bottle.
Add 10 drops of the Nature’s Truth Purify Essential Oil.
Put the lid on the bottle and shake it up to mix the liquids. Spray lightly into shoes and let the shoes dry.
I sprayed a few pairs of shoes while in the garage over the weekend, and my entire garage still smells awesome! The Nature’s Truth Purify Essential Oil has a sweet and citrusy scent that reminds of gentle cleansing.
Nature’s Truth Essential Oils can be incorporated in many DIY projects around the house, including soaps, candles, and in the Nature’s Truth Mini Diffuser. Nature’s Truth offers a wide range of essential oils, including an Almond Base Oil, Lavendar scent, and roll-ons.
My local CVS store has a wide range of Nature’s Truth Essential Oils and products in the vitamin aisle.

I am going to make this and use it on my teenagers’ stinky gym shoes after wrestling practice today. Maybe it will keep their bedroom from smelling like a locker room everyday!
