Have you ever considered how many daily life moments have a glass of milk involved?
A glass of milk in hand on the way to school.
A cup of milk in homemade snow cream.
A glass of milk paired with an after school snack.
Cereal and milk at night after a hard day.
Milk shows up in so many of life’s little moments. A few years ago, my son was having trouble gaining weight. It was through no fault of his own; he was undergoing chemotherapy and simply had no appetite. As parents, we were to the point where we wanted him to just eat anything. With the calcium, vitamin D, and potassium in a glass of milk, we tried to encourage him to drink it everyday. Sometimes he would, but other times he would not.
One afternoon, he and I were sitting at the kitchen table. I poured an eight ounce glass of milk for both of us and placed a plate with a few cookies in between us. I dipped my cookie in my milk, something he had never seen me do before. He looked inquisitive but still pushed his own glass away. We sat and talked, me dipping my cookie in milk the entire time. A few moments into the conversation, he picked up a cookie and dipped it into his cup. I pretended not to notice. He giggled as he picked up his cup and drank the entire glass. It has been several years, but I still remember his laugh and how happy I was to see him eating and drinking.

I never really thought about it before, but you’re right, milk does show up in a lot of little moments. That must have been such a difficult time in your life, I’m hoping that your son is thriving now. (It looks like he is.)
These straw toppers are really cute! I’m glad to see that you use paper straws, they are so much better for the environment. We recently switched to almond milk because my son is lactose intolerant.
I adore my glass of milk. I remember the first time I thought drinking milk was so good. I was reading the book Heidi and the grandfather pours her a glass of milk. She drinks it without stopping because she is so thirsty and the milk so good. My favorite way to drink milk is to drink it nonstop!
