DIY Mason Jar Toothbrush Holder with Tom’s of Maine

Thank you Tom’s of Maine for sponsoring this post.

Ever since watching a documentary on minimalism a few months back, I’ve been inspired to find more ways to recycle and repurpose items around our home. I have always been intimidated by the thought of Green Living because it seemed unattainable for  our family. Instead of taking “going green” one step at a time, thinking about the whole picture appeared impossible. After talking with my husband about living with less and using quality items over quantity, we have decided to take a step in the right direction by reusing and recycling items that we have to items that we need when possible. When we needed a new toothbrush holder, I grabbed items that we already had around the house to create this easy DIY Mason Jar Toothbrush Holder. I’m happy to be partnering with Tom’s of Maine and to bring you this quick tutorial today and feature the Tom’s of Maine Luminous White whitening toothpaste.

Supplies:

  • Wide mouth mason jar with the ring
  • Small square of chicken wire
  • Wire cutters
  • Painter’s tape
  • Frosted glass spray paint

I always like to start with the paint portion of projects so that they can be drying with I do other steps. Remove the lid and ring from the mason jar. Use the painter’s tape to section off the portions of the mason jar that you DO NOT want painted.

Apply the frosted glass spray paint as directed on the can. Set aside to dry thoroughly.

While the paint is drying, use the wire cutters to trim the chicken wire to fit just inside the ring from the mason jar. Do not make it too small. The chicken wire should fit into the ring without falling out. Wipe the chicken wire piece with a small alcohol pad. Fit it into the ring. If desired, you could secure it with a few dabs of hot glue, but I did not find this necessary.

Once the paint has dried, remove the painter’s tape and screw the ring onto the top of the mason jar.

Two of my favorite things Mason Jars and chicken wire!!! I love reusing mason jars, especially in bathrooms. I made one for cotton balls and cotton swabs using a mason jar and small glass candle holder that fits in the mouth and I love it. Thank you for sharing your idea.

What a great idea. I love using Mason Jars around the house but I do not have one in my bathroom. I think I will be trying this great DIY tutorial. Looks easy enough.

Totally love what you did with the jars. But first and foremost, I love the fact that you talk about Tom’s toothpaste. I’ve heard nothing but good things about this brand!

I love this idea! Painting a mason jar isn’t something I ever would have thought of, but once I see yours, my mind has been racing to all of the different things I could do with them. The idea of putting chicken wire in to hold all of the toothbrushes? Genius!

Pretty neat idea! I have a few mason jars up in my cabinet, I may try this for my oldest daughter toothbrush holder. I haven’t used Tom’s of Maine products before, but my oldest sister swears by this company, she use a lot of their products.

That is a really cute idea! I have a ton of mason jars around the house, I love reusing them in clever new ways. I’m far from a minimalist, but I do love upcycling things to make something new. It’s good for my budget and the environment.

This is a really cute idea and I like that there is a lot of space in between each brush. I have a thing about them touching and the ones without the lines inside make them touch and int drives me crazy. I may be an extreme germaphobe about this but it really is a great idea and I love the way it looks!

I would never have thought about using a mason jar to make a toothbrush holder. It’s such a cool idea. I love the way that it looks with the mason jars. That’s cool that Tom’s uses recyclable packaging.
