Today’s DIY First Birthday Badge goes along with this week’s Birthday Party Hat. This is another easy, no-sew project. Of course, change the number up to go along with any number birthday!
Supplies:
- Scrap felt in 2 colors
- Approximately 2 foot of ribbon
- Pin closure for the back
- Thin chipboard (heavier than card stock but lighter than cardboard)
- Hot glue and hot glue gun
Begin by cutting out the circle. I found the bottom of a can of spray paint to be the perfect size for this project. I simple traced it onto my felt and cut out 2 felt circles of the same color. I then cut out another circle using the thin chipboard. A free “1” number printable can be found on this free download. Cut out a number “1” from a coordinating felt color.
Cut the ribbon lengths– (3) 9 inch pieces and (8) 1.25 inch pieces.
Hot glue the thin chipboard to the back of one of the felt circles. Glue the number “1” to the front of the felt.
Fold the larger ribbon lengths in half. Hot glue them on the bottom of the circle on the back portion (along the chipboard as shown). See a front and back example below.
Now fold the smaller ribbon lengths in half. Hot glue them around the circle on the back portion (along the chipboard as shown). Again, see the front and back example below.
Glue the second felt circle to the back to cover up the glued ribbon.
Glue the pin closure to the back of the badge.
Now it’s photo time! Happy First Birthday to your special little one!
