As I’ve been playing around with the Cricut Adhesive Foil, I’ve discovered more and more uses for it! This DIY Family Ornament is one of my favorites. This post may contain affiliate links, which add no additional cost to you but help support this site to bring more Cricut related tutorials.
How many people are in your immediate family? Represent them all with a star on this DIY Family Ornament. The Cricut Adhesive Foil adds extra sparkle and shine to your Christmas tree. On the back of the ornament, add the first letter of your last name or the year. These also make lovely gifts!

Supplies:
- Plain round (flat) ceramic ornament
- Cricut Adhesive Foil
- Cricut Explore Air 2
- Cricut StrongGrip Cutting Mat
- Transfer Tape
First, decide how many stars that you want on the ornament. This will determine how large each star can be. I’m doing 2 large stars (myself and my husband), one medium star (my oldest daughter), and three smaller stars (for the triplets).
Now measure the diameter of the circle.
Open Cricut Design Space. Create a circle (using the “Insert Shapes” button) the size of the one that you measured. We will not be cutting the circle shape, but by designing the stars in the circle, it will be easier to fit the stars in the ornament.
Using “Insert Shapes,” place the stars on the circle in the pattern that you decide based on the size and number of stars that you chose.
Delete the circle.
If you’re doing a letter on the back, go ahead and cut this out, too.
Cut the stars out on the adhesive foil (I’ve also cut my letter for the back of the ornament in this step, too).
Using the transfer tape, apply the stars to the ornament.
Repeat with the first letter of your last name for the back of the ornament.
I’m looking forward to using this ornament as a keepsake for years to come!

super cute and I can’t believe how easy it looks using that machine. I need to get on the ball w/ crafts and cricut type tools.
Amazes me how many fantastic creations can be made with a Cricut!
These are precious. I’m lacking in crafts-y talents but this is something I definitely want to do!
