This month, I was challenged by Family Christian Stores to give back to someone in my or my families’ life. The only problem that I have is that I have so many people that I know who deserve a little something extra! But my daughter and I decided to surprise all of the teachers at her preschool. All of the teachers at her school have been just wonderful to her throughout her entire time there. I know that we do not say “Thank You!” enough! This also allowed my daughter and I a time to be crafty together by making these DIY Door Knob Hangers. I broke out my trusty Silhouette cutting machine, and we got to work! If you have a Silhouette cutting machine, here is how we made these door knob hangers. Fill them with treats for year long gift giving! A special thanks to Family Christian Stores for sponsoring our shopping trip.
Supplies:
- (affiliate link) Silhouette machine
- Door Knob Hanger cut file
- Solid colored card stock
- Printed card stock
- Glue dots
- Elmer’s glue stick
- Twine
- Gift Tag
I downloaded the Door Knob Hanger cut file a year ago but never used it. When I opened it to do this project, I almost didn’t use it. All the parts looked so overwhelming! That’s partially why I’m writing this post. Look carefully at the cut file. It actually has two extra pieces for those who are cutting with a portrait. Depending on what machine that you are using, you can delete the other pieces to make the cut file look less overwhelming.
Since I’m using the Cameo, I cut the Cameo body piece and the four accent pieces. The main piece I cut from the (heavy duty) solid card stock. The other pieces I cut from the patterned card stock.
Fold the sides along the perforations. Use glue dots to secure the tab to the front portion.
Fold the bottom under. Use glue dots to secure the bottom tabs.
Apply Elmer’s glue stick to the back of the patterned pieces. Adhere them to the body.
Use the twine to wrap around the door know hanger and to attach the gift tag.
My daughter and I added these lotions from Family Christian Stores. Not only do they smell great, but they also have a Bible verse on the front for inspiration. Each door knob hanger was large enough for the lotion. The hangers will actually fit two a piece, but they the weight is too much for the paper and it may tear.
Play with colorful designs to customize your door knob hanger.
What a unique idea! I would have never thought to make a door knob hanger! Would be really cute for birthdays as well!
It amazes me what those cutting machines can do! This is so cute-what a unique gift idea ๐
I love this idea, so much cuter than just putting a gift on their doorstep!
