I honestly can’t believe the popularity of adult coloring books this year. Almost every store that I’ve entered has represented this trend in some way. From artistic ones at Michaels to inspirational books at Family Christian Stores, adult coloring is all the rage! I can understand why. It’s a neat way to refocus and unwind at the end of a long day while still being creative. And I’ve seen many creative coloring pages out there! This year, my husband and I purchased a few of the faith filled adult coloring books from Family Christian Stores as a gift to someone in our family. I was excited about giving them, and I wanted to wrap them in a special way that demonstrated the overall theme of the gift. Hence DIY Coloring Gift Wrap!
This is an easy wrapping idea that anyone can do. You do not need any drawing skills- just cutting and pasting! Sounds simple, right?
Supplies:
- Plain white wrapping paper
- Heavy duty glue stick- I like using the Elmer’s Xtreme Glue Stick
- Scissors
- Printer and white printer paper
- Pencil
Wrap your gift in white wrapping paper. Rectangular or square gifts work best.
Find a free printable coloring sheet that you like online. I suggest finding something that is in a pattern NOT something that is a picture with a definite layout. If you have a sheet that is a pattern, it is easier to cut without slicing off a piece of the picture. For this paper, I am using this free Christmas lights picture. There are several other links to adult Christmas coloring sheets with a pattern in this post of Free Christmas Adult Coloring Pages.
Print the page off on your printer. Turn the paper so that the plain side is out. Lay the present on top and trace around the edges.
Cut around the traced lines, cutting inside the lines a bit.
Apply a heavy about of the glue stick on the back of the coloring sheet. Adhere the sheet to the front of the gift. Press the edges down firmly.
There ya’ go! It’s a gift paper that is {almost} too pretty to open!

I love this! I wouldn’t mind getting a gift wrapped like this. My kids and I are doing and Advent coloring countdown for the 25 days of Christmas so this would be right up our alley.
