Decorate a Pumpkin Party

Even this littlest of kiddos can make a Spook-tacular pumpkin with this Decorate a Pumpkin Party! A special thank you to Oriental Trading for providing the goodies for this fun, child-friendly party!

When my daughter was small, one of the first parties that we had was a BYOP (Bring Your Own Pumpkin) Party. We invited all the cousins, and each kiddo brought their own pumpkin to carve. We learned a plethora of pumpkin carving information that day. Primarily, we learned that kids do not carve pumpkins. PARENTS carve pumpkins. My husband carved pumpkins like a mad man that night while kids ran around in the yard. Lesson learned.

Enter pumpkin decorating kits. Sticky faces and kits are awesome! Even small kids can peel the stickers off and decorate a pumpkin. Now that our boys are older and immersed into every holiday, it is high time that we have another pumpkin themed party (no carving required!).

We want to host younger kids AND older kids at this party with plenty of activities for all. These ceramic pumpkins from Oriental Trading are awesome for that older group that may be too old for silly face stickers but too young to carve a pumpkin by themselves.

For kids who bring their own pumpkin to decorate, I found a large variety of pumpkin decorating stickers at Oriental Trading. These silly and spooky faces are a hit with my boys.

Since we work in children’s ministry at church, I appreciate that Oriental Trading offers faith themed pumpkin decorations, too.

Here’s another party tip that I’ve learned along with way when hosting kids’ parties. Anytime I provide goodies for kids to take home, I always had bags on hand for them to carry their things! In this case, these bags have a good message PLUS they are colorable (yay for another activity to keep the kids entertained!).

What pairs nicely with pumpkin decorating? A hot dog roast, of course! I keep snacks to a minimum, and we let the kids roast marshmallows or hot dogs after decorating their pumpkins.

What a fun idea for a party! I love those little ceramic pumpkins. I love Oriental Trading Company too. We actually got some wedding stuff there when my daughter got married.
