Mosquitoes have been terrible this year! Here’s a cute sign to display by the door to remind those kiddos to PLEASE. SHUT. THE. DOOR. This post contains affiliate links which, when purchased through, add no cost to the consumer but help support this site with a small commission.
I’ve lived in the south all my life, but this summer has been H-O-T. And there’s been no shortage of pesky insects. If I so much as step outside the front door without insect repellent, I acquire two or three new bug bites. I’m also constantly reminding the kids to shut the door. “Ya’ll are letting the bugs in!” has been my most frequently used Southern statement this year.
I put my crafty skills to work to make this funny, yet also true, sign to place on a table that sits by the door.
I made the sign with my Cricut machine.
Cute Southern Skeeters Sign Supplies:
- Cricut machine – Cricut Explore series machine or Cricut Maker. I’m using the Cricut Maker.
- Cricut StandardGrip Cutting Mat
- Cricut Iron-on Vinyl
- Cricut EasyPress 2
- Cricut EasyPress Mat
- Small Canvas – a flat canvas is best. For a canvas without a support in the center, place a ball of butcher paper or parchment paper under the center to support the canvas so that the canvas does not cave in while adhering the iron-on vinyl.
I used THIS SVG and imported the design into my Cricut Design Space. See How to Upload SVG files to Cricut Design Space if you need a refresher on how to do this.
How to Make:
I made sure that the design was sized to fit within my canvas and then cut the design on the iron-on vinyl. Be sure to mirror the image!
Following the settings on the EasyPress Interactive Guide, use the EasyPress 2 to adhere the iron-on vinyl to the canvas.
