There’s something special about a handmade ornament. And there’s something EXTRA special about a handmade ornament that the kids help create. It’s these special moments that turn a ornament into a keepsake. If you tuned in last week, then you know I had planned on a faith based ornament series. Today’s ornament is a fun way for the kids to get involved.
Supplies:
- Plain round ornament (not clear glass)
- Acrylic paint suitable for ceramics
- Thin line marker
- Paper plate or something to squeeze a dab of paint in
Enlist the help of your little ones. Have them use their pointer finger to make dots on the ornament in a cross shape. We used two colors. We used one for the center of the cross and another for the other circles.
After the paint has dried completely (to prevent smudging), use a thin marker to write Luke 2:1-20 on the back. Or you could also let another little one do a finger print cross. There are lots of options here!
These are inexpensive enough for you to make these as keepsakes to give to grandparents. They are also inexpensive enough for all the kiddos to make one for the tree. Heavens knows with as many kiddos as I have, I need as inexpensive as I can get!
Looking for other faith based ornament ideas? I’ll be posting more throughout the month. Check out this Glitter Cross Ornament from last week!
