Do you play games at your holiday parties? My husband and I host a youth Christmas party each year, and I help with our children’s department party. I also try to have an arsenal of games for my own kids while they are out on Christmas break. This Color Relay Game is perfect for kids of the preschool or kindergarten age. It combines running, colors, and a snack. Yep, moms of four and five year old kiddos already know that this is a winning combination.
The supplies are items that you probably already have lying around the house.
Color Relay Game Supplies:
- Goldfish crackers in colors
- (8) Plastic cups
- Strips of paper- (2) yellow, (2) red, (2) green, (2) orange
- Tape
- (2) Large bowls
Pour one bag of the Goldfish crackers in a large bowl. Place the bowl on a table at one side of the room. Repeat with the second bowl.
Wrap one strip of paper around a plastic cup and secure with tape. Place these cups on a table at the other side of the room.
Separate the kids into two teams. Each team has four cups, one in each color. Let the kids race to separate the colors into the cups. The Goldfish cracker should go into the cup with the coordinating color paper strip. See which team can separate the colors and run them across the room into the correct cup the quickest.
My boys played this over Thanksgiving break, and they had a blast! Their giggles made me smile, especially when someone would accidentally put the incorrect color in the cup. They thought that was hilarious.
