Clipboard Teacher Gift with Cricut

Create something that a teacher can use all year round with this Clipboard Teacher Gift made with a Cricut. This post is sponsored by Cricut. This post contains affiliate links, which add no additional cost to you, but when purchased through help to support this site to bring continued Cricut tutorials.

When gifting to teachers during the holidays, I always try to give something useful. The past two years, I have gifted small clear ornaments with movie night codes, lip balm, and treats. The crafty side of me always wants to give something personalized, but I know that teachers can use practical items and gift cards. The popularity of my Split Monogram tutorial turned the gears in my head this year. This Clipboard Teacher Gift is cute, can be used year round, and I can clip on a gift card to their favorite place!

While this project takes a little bit of design finesse in Cricut Design Space, it is an easy one cut holiday Cricut project. Simply design, cut, and apply! There are no multiple cuts or complicated layering techniques with this DIY.

Supplies:

  • Acrylic clip board- Pick this up at any arts and crafts store.
  • Cricut Explore Air 2
  • Cricut Standard Grip Cutting Mat
  • Cricut Vinyl
  • Cricut Tools Basic Set (for weeding)
  • Cricut Transfer Tape
  • Optional: Pick up any other desk accessory to monogram, too. In this tutorial, I’m adding personalization to a staple remover for a matching piece.

I am using Cricut Sans and Baby Steps fonts for this project.  See the shapes and Cricut fonts that I’m using in this project in my Design.

Open up Cricut Design Space.

Using a chunky font, type the first letter of the name that you are using.

Click on “Shapes” and add a square to the design sheet.

On the lower left hand of the square, click the “lock” icon to unlock the shape. Pull the shape to create a thin rectangle. Make the rectangle a tad bit longer than the widest piece of the letter. Copy and paste the rectangle to create a duplicate.

Pull the first rectangle onto the letter to split the letter in half. Select the letter and the first rectangle together. Click the “Weld” icon.

Select the remaining rectangle. Pull it over the letter and place the top of the rectangle in the center of the welded rectangle on the letter. On the lower left hand of it, click the “lock” icon to unlock the rectangle. Keeping the rectangle the same width, pull the rectangle down to cover the bottom half of the letter.

Select the welded letter and the remaining rectangle. Click the “Slice” icon.

Delete all the pieces except for the top and bottom halves of the letter. Leave enough room in between the halves to write the name. Once you are happy with the placement, select both halves of the letter and click “Attach.”

Using the same font, type the recipient’s name and place it in the center of the letter.

Select the name and the split letter and click “Attach.”

Optionally, add a title, such as “Ms. or Mrs. or Mr.” in a cursive font on the side in the center. Once finished, select the title and the split monogram and click “Attach.”

Measure the clipboard.

Resize the letter in Cricut Design Space to fit on the clipboard. Cut the letter on the Cricut Standard Grip Cutting Mat with the Cricut Vinyl.

Use the Cricut Transfer Tape to apply the vinyl to the clipboard.

Design any other personalized elements and cut with the Cricut. For this staple remover, I made a simple letter with a circle around it. Be sure to measure any item before cutting the vinyl to prevent cutting mistakes and do overs.

We gift teachers at the end of the year and go with things they can enjoy outside of the classroom. This would make a great coaches gift!

I freaking love this. My Cricut Is 5+ years old and it doesn’t do any of this stuff. I was talking about getting a new one for Christmas and now you are pushing me over the edge. I must get a new one.
