Chewy Oats and Chocolate Bars

Thank you to Nestle Toll House for sponsoring today’s post and inspiring me to try the new DelightFulls Filled Baking Morsels!

I like surprises. Surprises are just plain fun. These Chewy Oats and Chocolate Bars have a sweet surprise inside- a hint of cherry flavor without adding any cherries at all! I’ve been trying out a few of the varieties of the new Nestle Toll House DelightFulls this weekend, and my favorite so far are the Dark Chocolate Morsels with Cherry Flavored Filling. They make an excellent addition to baking, and my kids definitely love them. I always make snack bars for my kids, and typically I include fruit, but this time I made them with as sweet treat bars.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup uncooked old fashioned oats
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • (1) 9 oz. bag of Nestle Toll House DelightFulls Dark Chocolate Morsels with Cherry Flavored Filling

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 9 inch square baking pan with nonstick cooking spray. Cream the butter with the light brown sugar and the regular sugar. Blend in the egg and vanilla. Slowly add the remainder of the dry ingredients. Stir in the bag of Nestle Toll House DelightFulls, saving 1/4 cup aside.

Spread the mixture into the pan.

Bake for 15 minutes. Check to see if done by inserting a toothpick in the center to see if it comes out clean. Cut into bars of the desired size.

Try changing up the Nestle Toll House DelightFulls varieties to sneak in a different flavor! The Nestle Toll House DelightFulls are available in Milk Chocolate Morsels with Caramel Filling, Milk Chocolate Morsels with Peanut Butter Filling, Dark Chocolate Morsels with Mint Filling, and Dark Chocolate Morsels with Cherry Flavored Filling. The DelightFulls filled morsels hold their shape when they bake, and can be used whole, cut in half, or coarsely chopped for a surprising delight of flavor and color in a baked good.

Nestle Toll House DelightFulls can be purchased at a variety of places, including one of my favorites- Target! Nestle Toll House is awarding one lucky reader a $15 Target e-gift card!
