Celebrating Another Year of Milestones

Sometimes I feel as if I will spend every spring break from hereafter trying to make up for our spring from two years ago. My little man is two years out from having his kidney, and the attached Wilm’s Tumor removed, and he’s eighteen months out from his chemotherapy treatments. After Make a Wish treated us to a wonderful trip last spring break, my husband and I decided that a celebration during each spring break would be a wonderful way to celebrate another year of our little man’s milestones. This spring break we did just that while on our trip to Northern Kentucky. The city of Florence, Kentucky, had one of our favorite restaurants, Red Lobster. Red Lobster is always the place to celebrate Lobster-worthy moments!

We went with our family of six and a good family friend who the boys see as an uncle figure. The kids had time to check out the lobster tank while we waited for our table to be prepared. The evening manager was super nice and chatted with us for a few minutes while we waited. I was impressed with her dedication to the job; she was due for a scheduled c-section three days after our visit. I hope her delivery went well!

Our server, Katelyn, was wonderful. She refilled our drinks and biscuits without us even having to ask. My husband always likes food recommendations when we visit, and she helped him make his dinner choice with ease.

I took advantage of the Lobsterfest event.

I ordered the NEW! Lobsterfest Surf & Turf. The combination of Maine lobster tail baked with Red Lobster’s signature seafood stuffing AND wood-grilled sirloin topped with shrimp in a lobster cream sauce was perfect. The amount of food that Red Lobster offers with Lobsterfest is impressive!

A celebration isn’t complete without dessert. We ordered a Bananas Foster Cheesecake for us all to share, consisting of two slices of caramel cheesecake topped with warm, freshly sliced bananas, caramel and spiced rum and served with vanilla ice cream and candied pecans.

This year’s Lobsterfest includes four brand new and five favorite lobster entrées, as well as new appetizers, drinks and desserts. Also included in Lobsterfest, the collective Coastal glass comes free (while supplies last) with the purchase of one of the featured Lobsterfest cocktails.

Oh how fun! I haven’t been to a Red Lobster restaurant in a few years. I think the last time I was when I took our daughter out to celebrate a good report card. It was a surprise dinner, just the two of us.

We just got back from a trip to Boston and my kids still have not had their fill of lobster, so I will definitely have to take advantage of LobsterFest to make their bellies happy! That cheesecake looks amazing!

So fun. My son really wants to go to Lobsterfest – he LOVES shrimp and lobster but we have never gone as a family. I think we will take him when he graduates Kindergarten as a special treat.
