Carolina Renaissance Festival Highlights

A special Thank You to the Carolina Renaissance Festival for providing tickets for my family to have a fun-filled day out!

 

Have you ever wished that you could travel back in time? Do you often think that you were born in the wrong time period? If so, then you would have had a blast with my family this past weekend at the Carolina Renaissance Festival! My husband claims that the renaissance period is his second choice of time periods (the old west is his first), and he has been wanting to visit the Renaissance Festival for some time now. My daughter, who wishes she could have been a “real live princess,” loves the renaissance time period without knowing what it was called. I just like the clothes. But, either way, we were able to take a little bit of a car ride and hop back in time at the mesmerizing Carolina Renaissance Festival!

 

If you live anywhere near the Carolinas and have wondered if the festival is worth the drive and the cost of tickets, I vouch that it is! My husband, daughter, a family friend, and I traveled to Huntersville, North Carolina, where we joined the masses in celebrating and educating ourselves in all that is renaissance!

 

First off, I’ll mention what you all REALLY want to know about- the FOOD! From huge turkey legs to bread bowls, there is something for every taste. The four of us decided to each get a different dish so that we could taste a variety, and we all finished our meals completely. Delicious! (I had the Spinach and Artichoke Bread Bowl, in case you are wondering)

Parking was free, and we were greeted by a fun maypole.

 

We entered the gates just in time for one of the jousting tournaments. The festival has jousting tournaments at a few times throughout the day. If that is something that you are going specifically to see, be sure to check out the program to view the times. Also, arrive at the jousting area early. We didn’t, and the seats were totally full!

 

There are many games and activities for kids. Some are free, and others require an additional cost. Below is an awesome climbing wall, a singing fairy, and my girlie feeding the animals.

 

 

A demonstration, show, or activity is literally at every turn. The festival leaves no dead space when it comes to entertainment.

 

 

 

 

For those who like handmade goods, the Artisan Marketplace has a little bit of everything. My personal favorite was the glass blowing. We watched a glass blowing demonstration. His glass blow ornaments were lovely!

 

 

This “statue” caught the eye of my daughter. She wasn’t sure if she should be afraid of her or enthralled! The “statue” would come to life if someone approached her. Creepy and cool, all at the same time!

 

 

The Carolina Renaissance Festival does not disappoint. It will be continuing on Saturdays and Sundays through October and November. See their website for more information, directions, or to purchase tickets!
